It happened at the corner of 49th Street and Lancaster Avenue in Cathedral Park at about 8:20 p.m. on March 14, the department told Daily Voice.
Cobbs Creek resident Darlene Gaston, 58, was struck by a white Mitsubishi traveling west on Lancaster "at a high rate of speed," authorities said. She was thrown into the eastbound lane, where she was hit again by a gold Nissan.
The driver of the Nissan stayed at the scene, where Gaston was pronounced dead by first responders, police said. The driver of the Mistubishi fled the area, and the car was later found abandoned in Fairmount Park, they added.
No arrests have been made, though the incident remains under investigation by police detectives, the department said.
